Overview

Kadiyanlena Waterfall, also known as Ketaboola Ella or Ketaboola Estate Falls, is a picturesque roadside waterfall located in Kadiyanlena village, about 10 km from Nawalapitiya in the Nuwara Eliya District.

The waterfall is commonly listed as being 8 metres high, which refers to the height of its first segment. However, the complete cascade consists of three distinct levels and is estimated to reach nearly 25 metres in total height.

The first segment drops in a narrow stream into a pool below. From this pool, the water spreads across a wide rock face, forming the second segment measuring approximately 6–7 metres in width. The water then flows beneath an old arch bridge on the main Nawalapitiya road and creates the final segment below the bridge.

During normal conditions, the waterfall has a gentle flow, but after heavy rain it transforms into a powerful cascade, with water spray sometimes reaching the nearby roadside.

Because the waterfall lies directly beside the road and is intersected by the historic bridge, it requires no hiking and is easily accessible. Being located on a less travelled route, the surrounding environment remains largely unspoiled and peaceful.
